Kenya Conservation Tour 2016 | July 14 – August 5, 2016

Price per person $3900

Includes:

  • All ground transportation in Kenya for program locations outlined in the itinerary
  • All meals and lodging as presentKenya-Conservation-Salaton-Tree-Plantinged in the itinerary
  • Activities and project costs as indicated in the itinerary, including conservation experiences, Maasai cultural activities, wildlife driving safari, nature walks
  • Project supervision and opportunity for academic credit
  • Pre-trip informational session

Does not include:

  • International or domestic airfare, tips, immunizations, visas, alcohol & personal purchases
  • Mandatory travelers medical insurance
  • Personal use equipment, such as mud boots, gloves, compass, binoculars etc.)

50% Deposit due at time of booking, with the balance due six weeks before departure

ORIENTATION
AFEW ORG VISIT

 Nairobi
Welcome session in the morning, with time to rest from your journey and get to know your fellow travelers. General orientation to the program, with a visit to the Giraffe Center (AFEW) for lunch and afternoon program with the program manager, Christine.
Day 3: Sat, July 16 Nairobi
Visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Nairobi National Park with Kenya Wildlife Service special program? Marula Studios Flip Flop recycling center with special guide to discuss conservation programs.
Day 4: Sun, July 17

Day 5: Mon, July 18

 Laikipia
Visit Ol Pejeta Conservation, with rhino and chimpanzee programs, and Ngare Ndare to hear about local people conserving the natural environment—how Ngare Ndare was established, etc.		 Mountain Rock Lodge or Small Tent Camping

Stephen to develop agenda for serving projects in the area, possibly include a Sand River visit. Other ideas include:
– morning bushwalk with birdwatching
– wildlife patrols with field officers
– school/education outreach and activity day (i.e. art, tree planting, etc.)

– Walks in the hills and plains, with discussion of medicinal/culturally valuable plants

Rest at Wildebeest before transferring to the airport for flights home
